Voria.gr: “TILCON: 1.9 million euro investment for its production expansion in Nea Raidestos”

The aluminium frame industry expanded its production facilities to 3,200 sq.m., increasing its production capacity by 40% to 50%, and created a production line for glass panels.

From the small basement in Paleokomi Serres where it began writing its history in 2007 to the present day, a lot of water has flowed down the drain for the TILCON aluminium frame industry, which absorbs and processes 1.5 tonnes of aluminium daily at its headquarters in Nea Raidestos. In fact, a few months ago it completed a €1.9 million investment in its production expansion with the addition of 1,000 sqm to its premises, now amounting to 3,200 sqm, increasing its production capacity by 40% to 50%. As part of this investment, which was included in the development fund, it also created a new production line for the production of double glazing, energy-efficient new generation glass, achieving autonomy, since until recently it had been sourcing the glass for the frames ready-made from third parties. Given that glass constitutes 45% of its end product, this move – which allows it to produce 2,000-2,500 sq m per month – has made it more flexible, reducing its dependence on unpredictable factors in the glass part.

TILCON has also placed particular emphasis on its digital transformation, starting from 2019 to invest in the modernization and automation of its production -seeing the shortage of personnel in the market- in order to simplify the production process. In 2019, the first automatic CNC machines even arrived, with which the cutting and machining processes were automated.

TILCON deals with everything to do with aluminium, from frames and pergolas to entrance doors, gladding, and special constructions. And it specializes in large projects, with schools, public buildings, hotels, hospitals, industrial buildings, office space, and residential complexes included in its portfolio. In fact, from 2017 to 2020, it was involved in the construction of at least 5-6 schools per year in the municipality of Thessaloniki. Its presence extends throughout Greece, from Xanthi and Thassos to Athens, Rhodes, Corfu and Zakynthos.

It is currently setting up its export department, wanting to expand abroad, where it has so far developed some small actions, while its plans are to create a new showroom of European standards within its new premises. It employs 43 people.

“We are a very honest company with our clientele. We work with transparency,” says to Voria.gr the founder of the aluminium frames industry, George Tilsizoglou, stressing that TILCON has its own project costing department since 2019.

From Paleokomi Serres to Nea Raidestos

George Tilsisoglou has been involved with aluminium since the age of 16, through his father’s involvement with ironwork in a small shop in Paleokomi Serres. He loved the material and in 2007 he decided to set up his own company, starting with just 4 staff in a basement in Paleokomi. Growth did not take long to come and in 2015 he moved down to Thessaloniki, setting up a show room, to be followed by production in 2017, with the new headquarters being set up in Nea Raidesto, initially in 1,000 sq.m. It took only a few years to reach the current 3,200 sq.m., but also to grow the company.

“TILCON’s mission is to produce high quality frames and provide efficient solutions. Through innovation, aesthetics and functionality, we create frames that correspond to the needs and expectations of our customers,” notes George Tilsisoglou.
